Part eight – Insertae sedis

Systematists (that is, scientists who study evolutionary relationships species, alive or extinct) sometimes encounter enigmatic species that don’t fit obviously into a phylogenetic tree. Insertae sedis (“of uncertain placement”) is the Latin term used for such species. Here I use it as repository for sketches that don’t fit elsewhere in this compilation.
